Designing a typographic look for an author's name is very different from designing a title. A books' title reflects its story, whereas the authors' name reflects the authors' style and possibly the line their books belong in. Essentially, it becomes their logo. We like to learn about the authors' writing personality before we delve into designing type that will work well on their books, while at the same time reflecting their style.

Designing lettering for a title is fun. There is a world of lettering approaches to choose from, as long as the style reflects the story. Historic, we've got it covered….. Vampires, how sexy do you want to go… Western, we'll be there at high noon.…. Modern, did you mean mid-century or 2200? It's always fun; it's always readable; and it always fits in the allotted space. After all, there have to be some boundaries.
